Mon avis : 

Sarah J. MAAS, c'est une de mes auteurs préférés. C'est une auteure que j'adore et que j'admire. 

La saga ACOTAR m'a marquée et fait partie de mes séries chouchous. 

Du coup, quand j'ai découvert la sortie de sa nouvelle fantasy, je n'ai pas pu résister. 

Déjà la couverture... Seigneur... Les images sur Internet ne lui rendent même pas justice. 

Crescent City, c'est 800 pages (800 pages !!!!!) de bonheur. 

Ici, il n'est pas question de dire "ce tome 1 introduit l'univers, blablabla". Il n'introduit rien du tout. Il plonge au cœur du sujet, au cœur de l'action et il ne faut pas attendre 100 pages pour, déjà, tomber sur son popotin. 

Toutes les intrigues sont incroyablement maîtrisées. C'est de l'art à ce niveau, c'est du génie pur. Je me prosterne devant tant d'intelligence. Des intrigues dans les intrigues, des fausses pistes, des espoirs, du désespoir, l'auteure nous balade tranquillement dans son récit et on se laisse faire avec tant de plaisir. Oui, Sarah, malmène mon pauvre petit cœur, avec plaisir Sarah. 

Il n'y a aucune longueur, il n'y a aucun défaut. Rien. 

Les personnages... Ah... Comme si elle n'était déjà pas assez douée à maîtriser l'histoire, le grand grand talent de Sarah J. MAAS réside dans ses personnages. Tellement... tellement ! Voilà. 

Ils sont complexes, ils sont attachants, il sont formidables. On les aime avec passion, on les déteste avec virulence. 

La plume est, comme toujours, incroyablement belle et efficace. 

C'est le puissant coup de cœur de cette année 2020, je crois. Je le relirai à sa sortie en français, c'est une certitude.
